Official poster for The Massacre of Gilles de Rais, a film by Juan Branco — a reflection on guilt, innocence, and the dark space between the two.
This design explores the collapse of temporal and narrative boundaries that defines the film — where past and present, truth and performance, reality and representation constantly blur. The composition and lighting seek to suspend the characters in an ambiguous visual space, evoking both courtroom and ritual. The title, in a dense and frontal red, functions as both accusation and echo.
The core challenge was to strike a balance between theatricality and historical tension, while intentionally leaving space for doubt and discomfort — avoiding literal or predictable visual solutions.
