Packaging for the DVD edition of the film and TV mini-series 'Mosquito' by João Nunes Pinto. Like the film, the artwork explores a kind of fluctuation between reality and fantasy, between the past and the present, between the fabrication and the everyday, between solitude and the presence of the Other.
'Mosquito' tells the solitary saga of private Zacarias, a young Portuguese man thirsty for living great heroic adventures during the First World War. Sent to Mozambique, he is caught by malaria fever on arrival and is left behind by his platoon. Although ill, he decides to go alone on a long odyssey into the woods, looking for war and his dreams of glory. In this adventure there are situations that seem fantastic, but are real and delusions that seem real, but are fabrications of his mind.
