Based on a true story, Moral Order delves into the patriarchal society of the early 20th century. It tells a well-known public story: in 1918, Maria Adelaide Coelho da Cunha, heiress and owner of the Diário de Notícias newspaper, abandons the social, cultural and family luxury in which she lives to escape with an insignificant chauffeur, 26 years her junior. As a result, she is deprived of her freedom, having to embark on a bureaucratic struggle for several years until, finally, she regains it.
